Office365 Outlook Cached Mode – Sync Setting GPO not adjusting GUI

As part of setting up Outlook/Office365 within a Citrix Environment

When setting the following GPO Setting:

USER – Administartive Templates\Microsoft Outlook 2016\Account Settings\Exchange\Cache Exchange Mode

The below is the effect on Offline settings in the GUI, which is not reflective of the GPO setting

A bit of research later, this appears to be a bug in the GUI and the actual setting can be validated in the Registry in the below key

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Cached Mode –

DWORD

Value Name: Synwindowsettingsdays

Value Data: 3 (which indicates 3 days as per the GPO)

  1. Hello Mate,

Allow me to show my gratitude ASHA24 bloggers. You guys are like unicorns. Never seen but always spreading magic. Your content is yummy. So satisfied.

This can be done with Windows API calls. It’s a bit of a complicated process, but it can be done. Here’s what you would do, in simple terms: Automation anywhere training USA

    1. Use the AutomationElement functions to find the window of interest, by name. Start with the desktop, then find the Xpedition window, then the sub-windows within the Xpedition window.

    2. Get the handle of the object of interest, in this case a sub-window inside the Xpedition window.

    3. Use the handle and the Graphics tools in vb.net to get a bitmap image of the window you want.
Very useful article, if I run into challenges along the way, I will share them here.

    Cheers,
    Irene Hynes
